New Gallery: UTAH FALL!
New gallery featuring Fall 2023 photos in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.
I am excited to share new photos with you all! I spent Fall exploring the mountains and canyons in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. I am very lucky to call this area my home base for the time being! I look forward to sharing some photos from winter and spring as well!

Moonrise in Moab
Full Moon in Arches National Park
Here’s a few photos of last weekend’s full moon rise taken at Arches National Park in Moab, UT.
Fall colors on the creeks
I’ve enjoyed the two phases of fall here in southern Utah. First we had the aspens up on the mountain transform, and then as colder temperatures creeped down, the cottonwoods in the canyons started to change. I spent a lot of time hiking in the canyons along the creeks and rivers. It was a beautiful experience! I will likely post a gallery or another blog post with more as I have a bunch of images to go through, but for now here are two photos I like.
A snowy autumn day
Fall foliage in Utah. Aspens in snow.
It’s exciting watching Boulder Mountain slowly turn from green to yellow and orange! I was able to get a few hikes in recently and explore the aspen groves, each pocket with its own color and schedule. It even snowed a couple of inches on top of the mountain last weekend, which is much earlier than usual. Seeing the snow with the peak foliage was an unforgettable experience. This is my first fall out west, and I am loving it! Here are a few images from that snowy day.
New Gallery: Coastal Vignettes
PNW Coast Photography in Oregon and Washington
I had a magical time in the Pacific Northwest in August. The coast was incredibly inspiring with all the sea stacks, mist, and wildlife. It was a productive trip for photography! Please check out my new gallery here to see some of my favorite photos from the trip. Thank you!
Bioluminescence
bioluminescence on the Washington coast
The Pacific Coast has been a magical journey so far. One of the highlights was seeing all the different shapes of sea stacks against the night sky. To my surprise, when I looked at the back of the camera I noticed a slight teal blue tinge on the waves…I had captured bioluminescence! I couldn’t see it with my eyes but it was a wonderful experience either way. Grateful to be here in this beautiful place!
Utah Milky Way
The Milky Way with aurora glow in Southern Utah.
Southern Utah is pure Magic! These dark skies are incredible to witness. Here is the Milky Way rising over the Escalante canyons early Saturday morning. The extra color and light from the aurora came as a surprise when I saw the back of the camera. I love this place!
Heading out West!
I embarked on another journey last week. I am exploring southern Utah for the month of May! The first destination is Bryce Canyon National Park for a three night backpacking trip. I haven’t backpacked in forever, so I’m really looking forward to this experience. On the drive out I stopped to visit my sister and her fiancé in Boulder, Colorado for a few days. We enjoyed a snowy hike in the Indian Peaks, and some delicious tacos, burritos, and green Chile :) ha some much needed comfort food. I left Boulder this morning and set up camp at the Colorado National Monument for tonight. Here are a few photos I snapped at sunset from one of the overlooks. What a beautiful drive!
